Dido, a British pop music singer cum songwriter was born in 25 December 1971, in Kensington, London. Her real name is Florian Armstrong though she has made clear that Dido, her childhood name, is now not simply a nickname but also her real name owing to her attachment since childhood.
At age five, Dido took a recorder from school compelling her parents to enroll her to a music school. In her teen age, she could play the recorder, violin and the piano. She afterwards studied law at Birkbeck University, though never completed the degree, deciding to engage in music full-time.
Dido's music career began in 1995 when she started to record demo tracks. She co-wrote and featured tracks by the group Faithless, created by her brother Rollo selling millions of albums. Later she was signed in a record label Arista and embarked on recording her first ever album titled No Angel. The debut album was released first in 1999 in the USA and a year later in the UK giving her international success. She boasts of two songs from the album featuring in a film and in a TV show. Her debut album, also boasts of being among the biggest-selling albums of this century.
Her outstanding and memorable songs not leaving out her softly powerful voice has brought awards to her name.She has featured in Grammy Awards, Oscar Awards, Blockbuster Entertainment Award and International Dance Music Awards. She won a BRIT Award in 2004 for the British Single for her single 'White Flag' and also won for the2nd time, Best British Female Solo Artist. Also to her name include World Music Awards and Best British Pop Female Artist in 2003 among others. Her singles have appeared in top chart positions, 29 being the lowest chart place to date. Owing to her vocal prowess and stage performance, her concerts are simply incredible!
