Born on 25th December 1971, Dido, whose real name is Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong, is a female British singer and songwriter. Her debut album "No Angel" (1999) paved way for her international success. This particular album sold an incredible 21 million copies worldwide and won various awards including 2 NRJ awards for the best album and new act, MTV Europe Music Award for the best new act and 2 Brit Awards for the Best female and Best album. Her success was further escalated following the release of her next album "Life for Rent" (2003) which included hit singles such as "Life for rent" and "White Flag".
Though it has been a while since we have heard from the breathy songbird, she set a come back into the industry in early 2013 with her first album "Girl Who Got Away" since her 1998s "Safe Trip Home"album. Her latest album has hit the Top five in the UK. Dido began her career as a backup singer for her brother's band "the faithless". Dido's first two albums are some of the best selling albums in the UK chart history and both are among the top ten best selling albums of 2000s in the UK. Born and raised in London, England to a book publisher William Armstrong as the father and a homemaker Claire as the mother, Dido Armstrong, was named after a Carthaginian queen. Due to the absence of a television in Dido's home, she had to look for other means to entertain herself. At the age of 5 years she made away with a recorder from her school's lost and found. As a result, she discovered a passion for music. She later joined Guidhall music school in London where she added piano and violin to her skills.
